Meet another one of the key women in our network wholeheartedly behind this and other projects that cultivate an adventurous spirit in our girls.

Where would we be without a little adventure? We grow and become our best selves when we take advantage of new adventures. I am a firm believer in emboldening girls and women to be active in the outdoors. I promote the cultivation of adventure, the embracing of capabilities and the development of leadership. Teaching girls and women the how- tos of lighting fires, climbing trees, running 5 kilometres, and using a pocketknife all lead to building confidence and resilience. So, when an opportunity like the Women’s Adventure Grant is initiated I celebrate. I celebrate not only because girls and women need the support of other girls and women who believe in their capacity and strength, we also need the financial support to reach our goals, our dreams and our aspirations. The Women’s Adventure Grant creates opportunities for girls and women to cultivate their adventurous spirit, to embrace their capabilities and to fire up their courage, and bravery. Joelle Breault Hood

Joelle is an adventure-seeker, a storyteller, and a change maker. I am passionate about growing girls into strong, vibrant, capable women. I am inspired by the strength of other women and the energy and enthusiasm of young women. My happy place is in the wild; on the trails, on the rivers, on the mountains. I am driven by positive attitude and a desire to make change happen. I wear many hats as a Sole Girls Coach, Outdoor Education teacher, and I forge ahead working on a PhD that is embedded in the power of the outdoors to transform thought and capacity. My new project, The Gutsy Girl Project is driven by my desire to encourage girls and women to cultivate adventure, embrace capabilities and develop leadership.
