Bouddi Coastal Run 2019
Are you a keen trail runner? Or have you ever wanted to give trail running a go? With so many events on offer these days it might be hard to decide, but you should definitely check this one out for a stunner of an event to experience with your female running buddies. Bring on the girls (or family) weekend away!
Bouddi Coastal Run is a 14km and 21km event held within Bouddi National Park, located only 1.5 hours North of Sydney CBD or South of Newcastle. This area is a stunning coastal reserve on the NSW Central Coast.
The run features beautiful coastal views of pristine beaches, rainforest and a marine park. The course terrain itself is varied with a great combination of smooth trails, sand running, rocky terrain, cliff top trails and hills, which means there’s no chance of getting bored while out there.
From Running Mums Australia Founder, Nicole Bunyon: ‘I would recommend this event to anyone who wanted to try out trail running. Yes, it was tough, but there really were people out there from beginners to more experienced runners and it is a very inclusive supportive event. The elevation was decent. Just over 400m elevation gain for the 14km, and a gain of 775m for the 21km. Lots of technical running, sand, stairs and fire trail, coupled with amazing scenery. It really had it all.’
With an out and back course through the national park, starting and finishing at Putty Beach, Killcare, it’s a great way to spend a weekend away with the girls or family by staying the night before the run and a day or so afterwards, to really soak up the atmosphere and truly relax.
The event also coincides with the annual Lakes Festival, a 10 day festival presented by the Central Coast Council and featuring a program of sporting, family, cultural, educational, art and live music events on and around the areas beautiful waterways. The festival runs from 8th-17th November 2019, with Killcare (and Bouddi Coastal Run) being a NEW event hub location for 2019. So, there’s plenty to do on this weekend! This is one trail running event not to be missed.
