Aussie ultra marathon swimmer will attempt to cross the English Channel four times non-stop
This news item might not be your regular kind of adventure but wanting to leave one’s own mark on history and push one’s mental and physical boundaries is something that has always inspired humans. While some of us – as one Facebook comment noted “struggle to walk into the kitchen to make coffee” others go beyond what seems humanly possible.
We’re talking about Melbourne based ultra marathon swimmer Chloë McCardel who will attempt to cross the English Channel four times non-stop - 136km in total. In 2015, Chloë was the first Australian to complete a triple non-stop crossing of the English Channel.
Currently training in Australia where the water is getting too cold for the amount of hours she has to spend in the water, she is about to fly to the UK for final preparations.
Call it crazy or call it inspiring, McCardel is determined to make the record books with her “experiment” as she calls it. And maybe that is the way to approach all of our attempts to push ourselves and get out of our comfort zone: just call it an experiment and take the pressure of yourself.
“I hope my big goals and big challenges along the way inspire you to DREAM BIG AND SWIM BIG”. Good luck, Chloë!
