Adventure Proof Phone Case - Otterbox Preserver Series

OtterBox Preserver Series - Seriously waterproof phone cases - A review

"Embrace all the wet, messy, and spontaneous fun life has to offer with OtterBox Preserver Series protective smartphone cases.  The Preserver Series offers Military-rated drop protection and 2m depth waterproof feature – it can be fully submergible up to 2 m for 30 minutes and blocks entry of dust and debris particles. The perfect addition to your active lifestyle!

Let's just put it out there, it is quite possible that I am overly attached to my iPhone 5. The smart phone totally revolutionised my handbag & organisational abilities. I no longer needed to carry around a camera (and yes I did use to carry my digital SLR around with me), iPod or diary. Heck, I don't even need my wallet anymore with the new banking apps available. I've never really been a phone case kind of a girl though, preferring to slip my phone into my soft leather wallet. Last year I even rode across Cambodia on a bike - phone at the ready to capture memories, update our social media channels with stories or chase up our trusty tuk tuk drivers to come and pick up the team. Not a scratch, dint or drop!

Let's be clear, I do think I am an exception to the rule. In fact I'm pretty sure of that. After working in a phone shop and daily seeing smashed screens, water damaged phones, heck one customer even brought in what was left of his phone in a zip lock bag after it went under a ride on lawn mower, I know how easy it is for one little slip up to bring the whole delicate system crashing down around you.

So when the chance to test drive the Otterbox Preserver Series case arose, I though, 'where can I take my phone that it has never been before?'

Given that the case claims to be waterproof, I though I'd take it & the kiddies paddleboarding.

The Facts:

  • Two-piece case with snap assembly for easy installationInternal foam cushions device and holds it in place inside the case
  • Includes an adjustable lanyard for convenient carrying and tethering
  • Waterproof: fully submergible up to 6.6 ft. (2 m) for 30 minutes (IP-X8)
  • Drop / impact protection
  • Dust proof: blocks entry of dust and debris particles (IP-6X)
  • Device scratch protection
  • Slimline design

So, what did I think? Will I be keeping the case on?

I loved that I could have my phone with me out on the water, especially while I was with my kids in case of emergency. It was great to be able to take some pics of their first time paddle boarding on their own. We did come off the board & into the water twice, so was VERY grateful that my phone was well protected. I really liked the slim line case, it still fits into my wallet without too much extra bulk.

I highly recommend that you make sure that the screens are clean & dust free before you put it all together - there is nothing worse than a big dust bunny smudge right in the middle of your screen where you can't get to it.

This case will definitely be covering my phone on all future adventures and if you are accident prone, or just love to get out there into the great outdoors and have fun, I would definitely recommend the Otterbox Preserver Series for your phone's next big or small adventure.

But don't take my word for it, try it out yourself! The crew at Otterbox have given us 2 Otterbox Preserver Cases to give away to some lucky readers!
